MISSION STATEMENT

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization dedicated to promoting political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government and to acting on selected government issues.

Social Policy

Human Trafficking:

• Inform ourselves about the extent of the problem
• Learn what pertinent laws currently exist on various levels of government.
• Determine if additional laws are needed.
• If additional laws are needed, work for their adoption
• Share our information with the public
• Work cooperatively with other groups to achieve our goals

Local Government:

• Observe local governmental bodies (Observer Corps)
• Report on activities
• Continue Food for Thought and Hot Topics programs to inform members and the public about selected governmental issues

Natural Resources:

• Follow state and national legislation concerning off-shore drilling.
• Follow national policies on climate change
• Share information with our members and the public about environmental issues.

Voter Services:

• Continue to put on forums to discuss amendments/initiatives on the ballot.
• Continue to conduct candidate forums to question candidates about their positions.
• Continue to put on candidate fairs to provide voters with direct access to the candidates.
• Create a primary and general election “Voter’s Guide”
• Register voters
• Maintain our website with voter information
