MISSION STATEMENT
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization dedicated to promoting political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government and to acting on selected government issues.

YOU MAY REGISTER TO VOTE IN SARASOTA COUNTY IF:
You are a U. S. Citizen.
You are a resident of Florida and Sarasota County.
You are 18 years of age on or before Election Day.
You have had your civil rights restored if you have been convicted of a felony or declared mentally incapacitated.
You provide your current and valid Florida driver's license number or OR Florida identification card OR the last four digits of you Social Security Number.

There you will be able to download a Florida Voter Registration Application. Or call the Supervisor of Elections Office at 941-861-8600 and ask them to mail you an application.
NOTE:
You must be registered at least 29 days before you can vote in an election.
You must vote at the correct precinct for your current residence. Check with Supervisor of Elections website for maps of all the precincts.
You must provide a photo ID and an ID with you signature at the polls (credit card, student ID, drivers license). You may get a special Florida ID card at the Dept. of Highway safety and Motor Vehicles.
Early voting is available between the 15th day before an election until the Sunday before the election. Again, check with the Supervisor of Elections web site for locations of early voting.
PROVISIONAL VOTING ballots are available at all voting precincts. If your registration or identy is questioned at the polling place, ask for a provisional ballot.
ABSENTEE VOTING:
Anyone eligible to vote can vote absentee for any reason. Request an absentee from the Supervisor of Elections office no later than 6 days before an election. You may request a single ballot or the ballots for all elections during the calendar year. Absentee ballots must be returned to the Supervisor of Elections no later than 7 p. m. on Election day.
